William Grove Fireman of the Year Award

Cheshire Rotary Club honors "Fireman of the Year 2016"  Kevin Brumleve

The Grove Award is the most prestigious award at the Cheshire Fire Department. This award is in honor of William (Willie) Grove II. Willie Grove was the only Cheshire Fire Fighter to ever lose his life in the line of duty. Willie was an active member of the Cheshire Fire Department and the Grove family has been a part of the Cheshire Fire Department since 1958.

Deceased Life Member Bill Dunn was the first recipient bestowed the honor of the award in 1976. Since then, the Cheshire Rotary Club and the Cheshire Fire Department have joined together to formally present and acknowledge each year's award winner. The Grove Award is presented at a Cheshire Rotary meeting; attendees may include the Grove family, the recipient and their family, and the members of the Cheshire Fire Department. In addition, the winner of the Grove Award is presented a personally engraved sterling silver bowl and his/her name is placed on the plaque in the foyer of fire headquarters directly next to the picture of Wille Grove.
