Speaker Guidelines

Guest Speaker Guidelines

Thank you for agreeing to serve as a “guest speaker” for an upcoming Rotary Club of Cheshire meeting.

Our weekly meeting is held alternately at 12 noon and 6:30 pm out of the Waverly Tavern, 286 Maple Ave., Cheshire (203) 272-5998. You are our guest so when you get to the check-in table, please don’t pay! Dietary restrictions? Let us know.

The guest speaker generally has 10-15 minutes of presentation, and a few minutes of Q & A. Our meetings usually conclude approximately one hour and 15 minutes later.

To help you prepare your presentation, here are a few guidelines/tips:

• There are typically 14-22 members, visiting Rotarians and guests in attendance.

• Presentations should be non-political and non-sectarian unless you have been invited specifically for that purpose, i.e. candidate debate.

• Presentation should not promote a specific business or its services, and presenters may not solicit a financial or in-kind donation or request purchase of products or services. It is okay for you to talk about your business/organization and its services. It is NOT okay to make a “sales pitch” or directly solicit purchases or donations. You are more than welcome to invite interested members to stay after the meeting to talk with you.

• Handouts for club members are welcome.

• The club does not have audio-visual technology of its own, but presenters occasionally use overhead projectors or LCD displays of their own. Please let us know if you have specific needs.

If you have any questions, please contact the Rotary Club member who invited you, or Club President Mary Rossi (203) 272-0209.   Thank you. We look forward to your presentation.
